So now that you've stopped, if you still have the hook, either trash it, or learn to crochet, so you don't feel bad about dropping however much on a product that was only ever designed for arts and crafts
If you want dreads for years to come, or to last you a lifetime, then no more hooks! If you wanted instant dreads to last you only a couple of years, and you are aware of what the hook does, then don't feel guilty on your choice. Go for it but know that they will/may eventually break off.
