Locks don't change your hair texture if you cut them off and start growing from short hair. If you comb them out, your hair can be kinky for a while. I'm not 100% sure how long. I'm sure it would go back to normal in time. But depending on how long you kept your locks would determine how long it was kinked up afterwards.
The most imporatant thing to know if NEVER use wax. NEVER crochet, most gels are completely pointless and actually hurt your locks. DON'T go to a salon.
