I can't believe that Lonnie's rat lived for that long. It's incredible!As for companionship, these guys are the best, but mine aren't trained well enough to come to their names. They just do whatever they want, and if I let them out around the house, I fear that I'd never find them again! And as for sleeping with them, mine love to chew holes in fabric, so they aren't even allowed to climb inside of my clothes, let alone in my bed. I wish mine were that well behaved.

at 1 point i had a silver fox, 2 cats 15 rats a chinchila 2 birds & a snakethey all got along great, the fox slept with the cats, the birds played with the fox and cats, the rats chased the cats and fox.. the only prob was the chinchilla loved to run so everything chased him the rats trying to mate with him and the fox and cats to take a bite outta him (the fox did get a mouthful of fur once)

Ohhhh how cute!! I had a hairless rat for a few years and he had the biggest nut's I have ever seen! They are such awesome companions, mine used to sleep in bed with me,and strangely he never pooped in bed!

I've got a rat too, I've had him for over 5 years, but people tell me they don't live that long! LOL
