CJ, I saw your slide show and it looks like things developed nicely! We have similar a hair type so it's exciting to see how well it worked out!

Thanks for sharing!

Hello

Introduce Yourself

I came across this forum via a web search for natural ways to take care of my hair and I've found this forum to be very helpful. Yesterday I did a baking soda and vinegar wash and my hair was softer and felt lighter.

It's liberating and exciting to be able to eschew commercial products for effective, healthy, and natural methods.

Right now my hair is pretty short and I've recently decided to grow it out so I don't have much experience with dreads; however, I've noticed the insightful and helpful naturalistic people here and just wanted to say Hi and thanks!

veggie vegan omni ital? whats your diet and hows it relate to your dreadiness (if at all)

Dreads and Diets

I think it's important not to shun all animal products. For example, organic yogurt has vitamin D, probiotics, and protein, and as far as I know, the cows aren't abused. What's wrong with that?

But if if you are vegan or vegetarian, if you don't have a well-rounded diet, you should probably take a multivitamin. I hear you can miss out on some B-vitamins.

The best thing to do is do your own research - diets can be hazardous if you don't cover all the bases and you can't depend on other people to do that for you.

Dreads and Diets

I try to eat unprocessed, natural foods. I prefer organic food, but it's pretty expensive, though arguably worth it, because there can be a lot of bad things in seemingly "natural" foods, like pesticide residues .

I like fermented foods, such as yogurt, kimchi, and apple cider vinegar, for their probiotic and prebiotic properties, which help with immune function and even mental health .

There are some things I won't eat, like hot dogs and bacon. The nitrite preservatives used in those "foods" are just scary.
