Solid Shampoo Use?

Dread Products

I cut mine, usually into about 8 or so pieces (since its quite thick it doesnt matter), and after my hair is wet, lather it in with the bar. Not too hard :) and cutting it into smaller pieces makes it last longer, and not get all wet which again makes it last longer :P

mom bugging me about my dreads

Introduce Yourself

My mom was exactly the same - also the whole "I'm embarrassed to be next to you" bullshit. Do what you want, I had to break in at the end of living at home because of threats to cancel my flight ticket. If you aren't home for very much longer and cant be bothered taking the shit, I would say take them out as horrible as it is... I had free forming locks for 9/10 months and had to take them out... But moved away and am in my 5th month of free forming again :) but yeah I ignored it for nearly a year, but all depends on how thick your skin is I suppose

Just plain mean

Life Issues Facing Dreads

When my mom was at her peak of hating against my dreadlocks, she sent me a link to this. Instead of getting insulted I just told her blankly to fuck off, and it worked magic :) on tumblr there is also ALOT of hate towards white people with dreadlocks, but its all low lifes who have nothing better to do. I had enough of one guy who was mailing me hate, so I made it public, we had a nice argument for the rest of tumblr to see, and he lost so badly that he deleted all the posts against white people. So just ignore it, there will always be idiots out there

Any one who speaks/write german here? Questions over questions :-)

Dreading Methods

Where in Germany are you? :D I recently moved to Berlin. My German isn't that great yet but I'll ask my boyfriend to help me write you :P

hope its enough :D

A strange worry

General Talk

Ouh damn! Well Ixchel, I was actually thinking the same thing, that if they stop being super crazy that I will brush them out and have the loops again :) but yeah we will see :P it's a shame they dont keep growing crazy as maturing..

A strange worry

General Talk

I'm now coming up to 4 months of free forming, and am loving every moment, every knot/loop and crazy lock I find! My strange worry is when they will become mature - say 2/3 years old, will the new grown hair also loop and go crazy or will it be straight and well "normal" looking? I love the loop look, so for anyone who has mature free formed locks, let me know if they stay wild :D If not, well I will be a little sad to be honest haha

the photos are my current two favorite ones :)

one more thing, does anyone else name their locks? the more crazy one I named looper :P want to make sure I'm not the only one!

Dreadlocks & Discrimination: Interview Questions

General Talk

1)My dreadlocks are 4 months old, and free form. I got them because of a few reasons; I love how dreadlocks look/feel, I love decorating (so I can put beads sea shells etc), and though I am free forming, to grow with patience as my locks grow in beauty. 2) This is now my third set, all three times my family hate it (they were the reason the other 2 times were removed), friends love them, school loved them :) 3)the only discrimination I keep getting is from colored people telling me I'm being racist because I have locks. This mainly happens on tumblr. 4) I use dreadlockshampoo to wash my hair, every 2-3 days or whenever I feel like it.I think they are very clean! definitely smell better than most people I know... 5) I mainly get the "you are dirty" or "you are racist", so people just need to learn basically that dreadlocks are in most cultures and religions, are for many reasons, and just because a white person has them doesn't turn them into a racist!

~Dreadlockshampoo.com's shampoo bar's question~

Dread Products

Goddess and nag champa are my favorite smells! nag champa smells like incense (or for me exactly how I would expect India to smell) so I absolutly love it, but you have to be an incense person for it. Goddess is a very delicate smell, which I cant really describe.. kind of like flowers but not :P
