I've got a loose fitting beanie on my head more often than not, and I always find myself playing with the front ones, and keeping them well seperated. and another question, they are suuuuper curly. will they straighten out as they mature or will i be stuck with weird curly looking dreads?

The back of my head got wrecked.

Introduce Yourself

I've been growing my dreads for about 2 and a half months now, and I've been keeping the front/sides seperated fairly consistently and I'm seeing pretty good progress. But I hadn't really maintained the back of my head for a few days, and it had turned into one huge dread, all knotted and gross. so i pulled it apart into 6 or 7 smaller sections, but they aren't locked up anywhere near as much as the ones I've been paying constant attention to. Does the back of the head normally take longer to dread? Or is it because seperating them all again was super counterproductive?
Thanks guys :D

Hello friends

Introduce Yourself

Been around for a little under a month now, and my dreads are starting to get really untidy. they don't even look like they did when i first started. barely resembling dreads anymore. Just wondering if this is normal, and what steps i should take from here.

Normal? Not normal? I don't even know.

Tying up dreads?

Help! Save My Dreads

Does tying your dreads back slow down the knotting process?
I've had them tied back for the past few days, in an attempt to look semi-presentable. Since they look like crap at the moment, but I'm persevering, because apparently that's normal until they mature a bit more.

Just wondering if there's any disadvantages to having them tied up?

Not sure if this is the right place to post. BUT..

Dread Maintenance

I put my dreads in about a month ago now, using the backcomb method (it's frowned upon, I know. but that was before i realised) And they stayed pretty tight for a while. But lately the ends have been so curly, that i've had to straighten them to make them look half decent, and so much hair is coming loose it's ridiculous. is this normal? will they tighten back up? or are there measures i should be taking. (i stopped palmrolling daily about 3 and a half weeks ago, and i've only been washing my hair with water)
