My greatest decision in life :)

Introduce Yourself

I too was had the same mentality of "perfect" dreads. Once I did my tnr method I realized that the hair itself, every strand, had its own wants and needs. It's a beautiful thing the transformation of each dread as they mature and I've found a solid 2-3 times a week BS soak really helps the process. Clean dreads are happy dreads! We are created in the image of yahweh himself, perfection, why change and or less with perfection. You are all beautiful and daydreamer, you are very gorgeous as well. No doubt! Your dreads are wonderful and should be an inspiration for others! I need to post more pics but mine are almost 4 months. And change is amazing. I love it. People bitched and moaned cuz they thought I ruined my long "beautiful" hair. Haha, I said no, now its perfect. Keep in touch daydreamer. I like watching the changes. Grace and truth to all!

I'll keep an eye on any tangling. However, I didn't plan on washing unless it just happens to get mud thrown in it. Haha. Is that bad? Hair washing isnt a necessity right?

General Talk

Thanks a lot steff. I guess I didn't realize they loosen up to loop. Because a majority of mine are pretty tight. All have an inch of loose hair at the scalp which is essential for dreading and movement right?

a few less than ideal dreads

General Talk

hi, I'm derek and I started my dread journey a little more than a week ago.I did them all myself using the twist and rip method. however, there were 5 or so o couldn't reach. so I had one of my moms friends, who is a hair stylist, help out. well, we had a few beers that night and I think he got his mind stuck in a pattern. they turned out looking like braids and random knotty-Ness.will it mature and matte up like the others? will they look different? not that I care, randomness is what I was going for.just curious if this happened to anyone else. thanks

Dirty looks and negativity

General Questions

I like what Luke said, the 60+ generation acts like It's then of the world or something. Haha, but its been done since the beginning of human kind. I love getting the looks. Ignorance IS bliss, for those who don't understand human nature and the naturalist part of the human psyche that we just can't ignore. Hair grows whether you cut it or not. So get the clue. Let it go and let it grow.

Loose Hairs

Dread Maintenance

Ii have the same thing going on. Had bands at scalp for a few days but took them out with fear of my hair overtaking them. About an inch from scalp down to scalp is loose. I'm guessing the new hair growth enter right in the dread or at least will tighten up eventually at the scalp. I'm Derek by the way. I'm a noobie dready. See my page for photos and I think I uploaded a Vid too.
