Homemade beads

Dread Accessories

I just made couple of beads for my locs~

I bought tidy wooden spools and some hemp strings at AC Moore and did this.

My locs aren't that thick but still the holes were too small, so I drilled it a little bigger.

it's really simple to do!

I am done my dreads!

General Talk

yep they are TnR. I used crochet for first seven, and people here told me to throw the hook a way so I did.

I like how the ends get pointy when its wet and i would like to keep it that way but i don't think there is a way...

I am done my dreads!

General Talk

I just got done!

it was a long process but i am very excited and happy with my new look.

My 6 year old sister gave me some beads to put in my hair.

I have some loose hair near the root and missed couple of strands here or there while sectioning, but hopefully they clean up.

I have sensitive scalp so it is little red and bit hurting at the moment.

My girlfriend was completely against me having dreadlocks and we even argued this morning as i was working on my dreads but she seemed pretty entertained when she saw me over the skype.

the tips are not as tight as i would like them to be though... i kinda want really straight and pointy ends but some of them are not as tight as the other ones.

but generally i am really happy. I ordered shampoo also, so hopefully they come in early this week.

YAY DREADLOCKS!

Hello! with 7 dreads and counting!

Introduce Yourself

Hi I'm Pete. I'm 23 and I am getting dreadlocks for the second time in my life!

First time was a nightmare.

It was couple months ago, and I really didn't know alot about dreads, but since I wanted to get them so much, i called hair salon near my house who does lock extensions. So, when in, they did my locks.
They braided extensions on and wrapped them with black yarn....

they looked awful and hurt like crazy too. there was only 9 locks in my whole head, soimaginehow big the sections were... so i took them off the next day...

since then i've been researching and studying and i stumbled upon this site.

THIS SITE IS AWSOME!!!!

I got all the info i need to start dread and I actually started yesterday.

I really don't have a lot of spare time, so I have total of 7 as of this saturday morning 3.30 am.

I am twisting and ripping them and doing a little bit of crochet to tighten them a little.

Sections are in different sizes cuz i would like to have different thiknesses and i really don't like the look of neat squares on the scalp.
they are super fuzzy at the moment and look a little messy so im a little worried...
and Im also worried about doing the back all by myself.

but oh well! dread is dread. right?

i didn't get dread shampoo yet so i probably need to get them soon.

Here's a picture of my new dreads. Hopefully they look alright!
