(Thank you guys for the compliments!!!)

I waited so long to start my dreads, first because I thought- like so many people-that I had to go get them done (or not wash my hair forever). The thought of saving up money to do it made me procrastinate (thank god!). Second, because I worked for other people and the thought of explaining my dreads.. well.. made me procrastinate. I thought, "One day, when I work for myself, it won't matter.." I went through massage school, and they make you believe that people only get massage from prim & proper people, and you'd never have a successful practice or get hired if you had something like- god forbid- dreadlocks. ! So, I put myself in a place in my life where I work for myself, and lo and behold! I have a successful practice, with really cool clients, and dreads! It's common practice to wear your hair back if you have long hair, due to hygiene, so I'm sure not many clients even notice. But by the time they do, they'll already love my work, so my hair won't matter. If it does, I don't care. It's my work that's important, not my hair. I have gauged ears, 00g, and wear awesome huge earrings (another thing in massage school they said wouldn't fly), and I get compliments on them everyday. I almost fell into the salon trap and found this site just in time! Hair dreads naturally? "DUH!" I said to myself! SE- the community here is so amazing and inspiring!

Hmm. I'm not really sure. They kind of vary. Right now I think I have 12 or so sections, about 6-7 on the left side, 2-3 underneath in the back, and the rest on the right, with loose hair still sectioning and starting to tangle. I'm leaving the top of my head and right sideto my ear loose and undreaded. I think I'll have just under 20 when they all are finally sectioned off.

I haven't gotten any random comments on them yet.. When I am out of my house, I am either in work mode with my hair up or at friends' house with hair down. When I'm around friends, they've been complimenting them a lot lately.

Here's some fun pics I took today, happy 60 day anniversary!!!!

56 Days! I apologize for not updating recently; running a business is... well.... busy! The evolution has been awesome. I'm really enjoying how they're coming along...

I love the way the left side is coming along. It's all dreaded just within a few weeks..

The top layer in the back is just starting to tangle, so I pulled it up to show you the bottom layer. Photo is kind of fuzzy but.. its a bit hard to take pics of the back of your head!

In this pic, I'm trying to show you that very first, original dread at the base of my head. The very first one I took pics of... It's coming together so beautiful! You can't really see it in the pic, but the roots are a little loose, but past that there is about 6 inches of round, thick, beautiful dread!

Loopies! I love these...

Wild, yes! I love how everyone moves at their own pace, like the way everyone walks and dances and loves differently. Since those pics a couple days ago, I have two new dreads starting, so now 12 in all, and some cool changes going on. I wash my hair, hmm, 2-3 times a week. I'm a massage therapist, so I have to stay clean and presentable. Usually, my bangs get oily before the rest of my hair (bc I generally have oily skin and I also put coconut oil on my face before sleep) (and I'm leaving my bangs/top right of my head undreaded), I'll rub some cornstarch in to take that little oily-ness away. Some weeks, that third wash in the week may be just my bangs and I'll leave the dreading part alone. Some people don't wash as much, but it all depends on the preference. I mentioned earlier in the time line that last year I developed dandruff for the first time eeveerrr in my life from using baking soda and vinegar, which works really well for some, but not for me. So for me, I learned to know what is healthy for me and when I need to wash, and its 2-3 times a week. My hair also just KNOTS like CRAZY regardless, so...
