So, I haven't updated in a while.
2 weeks ago, I went to sleep with long hair, with dreads forming, some faster than others, of course. See previous photos.
I woke up the next morning with my dreads shorter than my shoulders, locked up & thick as hell, with only strings of hair hanging past my shoulders! Tripped me out! When I sat up in bed, I was like.. "Hm. My hair feels.. different." Reached back to feel it & was like.. "Whoa! Where the hell did my hair go?!" My hair was down past my bra like, and now I can barely touch it when I reach up behind my back. They're looking & feeling great!

Massive as is ridiculously big in comparison to my head (I'm not good at measurements, sorry)...
So I had a bit of time tonight to work on them.. I took your advice from another post about getting your finger under the first few hairs and loosening them and continuing. I got some good results, I need to work on them again probably one more good time and I know they'll be fine. I found another section that I guess I didn't realize had congoed so badly (they combine so quickly sometimes! yikes!), but I managed to separate them all the way. Progress! They're turning out well and I'm getting nice compliments on them. Thank you for the wonderful help from your site, wouldn't be able to do this without it!

18 weeks and 5 days!
I'm having a difficult time taking decent pictures of my hair as a whole- as soon as I get some, I'll post them. I'm also having issues with two different areas wanting to congo and I'm trying to prevent this from happening any further. The first one is happening with the two dreads that formed first, close to the base of my head. If I let them congo, it'll be so massive, not good. The other two are just above my right ear, so if I let those guys merge, I think the size would be ok, but it would be really awkward for my ear. Other than that, they are coming along!

The process of dreading has taught me the most important lesson of my life: enjoying the processes of everything. I've always been go with the flow & patient, but I was struggling so long with wanting the end result of things so badly, that I'll sloppily rush through the process, only to end up with a sloppy end result (in art, in learning, in experiences, in everything). This was exactly what I needed.

85 days! Most of them are starting to tighten up. The area of the top, middle, and right of the back of my head just was not, not, not dreading, so I went ahead & TNRed them a couple days ago, so we'll see how they turn out. Here are some pics. I'm having a potluck tomorrow night, so hopefully others will get some good pics, rather than me trying to take pics of the back of my head! Ha!

River loops!Spent the day tubing down the Bogue Chitto River yesterday, woke up and got these awesome pics After the pics, I had to quiet them down a little bit because I have work in a bit (some of them were 4 or 5 inches off my head!)
