how to get rid of lice in dreads

General Questions

I did the alcohol, vinegar, neem wash. Is there anything I can do in between days? I'm wondering because I can still see some little ones or they're eggs, not sure. Not sure if they are alive or dead either.

I really appreciate all the input, I've spent all day on this mess.

how to get rid of lice in dreads

General Questions

Thank you! I will do that and post what happens. I wish it would be faster than 9 days :( I'm paranoid to go out and have lice fall somewhere visible! :O

how to get rid of lice in dreads

General Questions

Thank you! I can't go to the store right this second so I rubbed Tea Tree oil with a cotton ball all over and they were falling off. Not too many, maybe like 20 or so but I'm sure I have a lot more. I'm just walking around with a bag on my head, hoping to kill some more. I'll go to the store and get some alcohol and neem. Thank you for your response, I will follow up! :)

how to get rid of lice in dreads

General Questions

Thank you for this! I just found one lice this morning, had my husband checked and found another!!! :( Can you tell me if this is what I should do?

1. Pour 70% alcohol straight into head and dreads, wrap with plastic bag for 30 minutes.

2. Then dilute ACV (what's the ratio?) and pour, wrap with plastic bag for 15 minutes. Rinse with water.

3. Then wash with my regular shampoo (baking soda, grapeseed oil, tea tree, lemongrass, lavender, peppermint, rosemary) and add neem oil to it. Then rinse again with ACV. Then rinse with water.

Repeat every 3 days.

My question is: is that ONE day of washing, or are those different options? I'm freaking out and now I know why my head has been itching so much. I can't imagine how I even got them on the first place. I was thinking maybe a festival I went to. Ugh.

dreading the 1st few weeks of dreading

Dreading Methods

I've enjoyed reading this thread, thank you for all the wonderful comments. I went through the same thing, always worrying about how they looked and what I wanted them to look like, it's been almost two months and I know they are still babies...so I let go and didn't worry about them...THEN I realized that my sections started to dread together and then I got a little impatient after looking at that big mess and spent 3 hrs separating them and put on some rubber bands. They stayed in about 1 week.

So my question is...how do I keep my sections from dreading without having to maintenance the dreads? I don't want to use rubberbands, they just break my hair...any tips? Thank you!
