Happy First Birthday, Dreadies!

General Talk

I know I don't post much, I'm a lurker, but I thought y'all might like to celebrate with me! One year ago I started my dreadlock journey! I posted some new photos to my profile from today. I'm finally starting to learn to do nothing. :)

what jobs do u people do

General Talk

I am a domestic godess and I teach dance technique and choreography. I think that if your lifestyle and dreads would cause you to forfeit a job, you should consider if that is the type of job you were really meant to have. In America sometimes we tend to "live to work" instead of "work to live". Your job should be a means to help you enjoy your life, it shouldn't define your life. Seek a career that makes YOU happy, and you'll find that when you find the perfect balance, it will all blend seamlessly together.

That's as good as it'll get for me, I have some tiny slimy hands trying to simultaneously help me with the keyboard and play with my hair. :D The pics of Carlsbad Caverns take me back to where I was raised, I love the east coast but miss the desert sometimes.

Introduce Yourself

soooooooooooooooooooo glad you didnt waste your money and what a great name your son has

malachites such an amazing stone

oh yea..welcome :)

Thanks, SE! My father is a gemologist, so we decided that our child, and future children, would have precious and semi-precious stones as their middle names, in honor of him. Malachite is indeed a powerful and beautiful stone with a lot of great meaning. :) It fits him to a tee!Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Lurker me!

Introduce Yourself

Hi!

So I guess I should intro myself, I've been wanting to jump on the locs train for years, but never had the right opportunity (or maybe I just wasn't ready yet). I started to do some research a couple months back, and found this site. I'm glad I did, because I was, in my mid, off to the loctologist to pay money to have them done for me. I was disappointed, I like to do things myself or let nature take her course when I can, so it seemed weird it would cost so much and require so much maintenance, or so research had led me to believe. Then I found you guys! Hooray! I've been lurking for a while. I admired all the dread pics, and all the advice and sense of community. It's pretty easy to believe a group when there's nothing to sell and nothing but love and friendly advice flowing toward the questions out there! My baby dreads are 3 weeks old now, a little T&R, a little just left alone. I'll try to get some pics up soon.

I'm from NM originally, now living in MD. I have a husband who works very hard so I can be a stay at home mom to our new son Eon Malachite, who is 3 months old now. I love to cook and bake, sew, craft, and do what I can to be creative. Before I was full time mom I taught dance, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, etc. In my "off time" (not a lot of that these days!) I love to play video games, or MTG card games, or get out of the house to check out museums, restaurants, thrift shops, or just people watch in a park. I hope to get to know a lot of you better! :)
