Starting off my dreadies.

Introduce Yourself

Hi Kare, I also made the comment "the sooner u start, the sooner you'll be locked." I dont get why ppl wait and take say, 1 year growing there hair then "making" dreads out it when they think its long enough to be back combed. Why not just start letting there hair grow and lock together from whateva length it is and the chances are it'll already have some nice locks formed in the same time frame they would of otherwise just been growing it. Its a no brainer to me but I guess we are all different. so my comment is basically saying why wait? Let yr hair dread now ;)

My hair was only 2-3 inches when I stopped brushing and its only 4-5 now and already got loads of dreads forming. The thought of waiting till its long and then let it lock seems like the long way round to me. After all it takes long enough to get knotty anyway. Just my thoughts anyway. Peace, love and acid groove ;)

Starting off my dreadies.

Introduce Yourself

Hi Billy, I think yr hair is at a good length now to start. Just let it do its thing and tangle and knot. I started mine 2.5 months ago and my hair was only 3 inches at longest. Its now an inch longer and have lots of baby dreads forming ... I'm doing it the all natural way. No back combing, no T&R and defo NO wax !!! I have very thick hair but not very course.

The sooner u start the quicker you'll be locked up :)

what jobs do u people do

General Talk

Hey Pokolo, as u can see having locks doesn't have to hold u back. Show that yr a descent, honest, trustworthy guy who's willing to work hard and u should be rewarded for it. Get yr mum to read this thread as these statements are facts and not here say. Good luck :)

General Talk

Man I've had loads of crap jobs that made me miserable but now I'm a senior development worker helping vulnerable adults ( autism, challenging behaviour, physically challenged etc) and I love it. The whole pylosophy behind it is promotong equal rights, no discrimination, individuality etc so for my employer to give me a hard time about dreads would be hypicritical !! Lets see what happens as I'm only half way there to getting a full head of locks, no probs so far.

Jah bless x

Yeah small town mentality !!! Just gotta laugh at it. Bristol is a cool place though, spent many weekends in and around Bristol on the free party circuit many moons ago. Lacota also used to be a good place, not been there for at least 10 yrs though!!

Only 2/3 months in on dreads and hair only 4 inches so will be a while for those kinda comments. I did have lots of negative comments comments on 1st set when I was just 15 ( 21 yrs ago) but times have changed now.

Dreadlock Salon Disaster

Help! Save My Dreads

Its gonna take a while, my hair is the same length as yr and straight also. I've been going neglect for 4-5 months now and my hair has sectioned with dreads forming. I imagine its gonna be at least another 9-12 months till I'll be saying I got dreads though. Its hard to take as we really want a good head of dreads but that takes time, especially with short straight hair.
