well im just grabbing sections of hair in places to do im lookinf forward to see how they develop, im finding that i dont need the beads to hold the ends really my hair is that thick and naturally knotted that its taking to them really well and easy

they are thicker in odd places sort of like kinks but not big ones..is this just because i still need more practise?

it was the ancient egyptians and greeks that first inspired me to have dreads i thought them so amazing when i was younger i believe it not a matter of my hair being stuck in one way 'as he said' but i believe he does not like them or the idea of me having them.......its not the best place be a individual i find there are so many people on my site that are very judgy and not very nice...simply dying my hair red i got trouble and it does lower your self asteam but im past that and ready to show the world i love dreads
i have done 4 so far...diffrent thickness they are not as neat as i would like lots of random frizzy ends but i guess i just need practise but i am in love them andd cant wait to just keep adding as i go along
i did say something along thoes lines to him that isnt art about expression also and if i feel this is a way of my expression shouldnt i be encouraged??? his reply was your a greek and asian specilaist...it wont work 
im at university (that should be a great time to do what you want) but i do performing arts specialising in cultural art and dance and touring shows to schools or theatres......and when i mentioned that i was thinking of dreads my director went MAD!!!!!!! how can i display tradional styles of various countries and historic era's when i cant do anything with my hair i was very sad so we comprimised on a few that can be pinned away untill after my graduation.
THANK YOU you just said exactly what i started and planned on doing and to be fair they are looking really good just silly people telling me bad stories tut tut.....just wish i could have my whole head im very sad about that i only hope i can make the most out of having 6 or 7
i started the twist and rip on sections. as i thought i can use the same methodas a whole head but then people started it wont work if i just want singular things like my normal hair will just knot into it and ill end up with a huge knotted mess at my roots......others said it wont work because when i wash my normal hair it will ruin the dread...and that it wont be neat or stay sectioned from the rest of my hair if i have normal hair around....so i thought about using bans to keep it seperated at the roots at least but then was told it would stick out from the rest of my hair....i am now ignoring all these silly people they just want to scare me off i think
hey all, well first i suppose i should introduce myself im vikki lovley to meet you all!!!
i have just decided to step into the wonderful world of dreads after many years of loving them and faking styles like it i want some for real now!!!
i have long thick wavy hair thats a bit hard to handle (as you can see by the random profile photo) and due to my line of education/work my hair needs to be put into various styles....so i have decided to start off with a few singular dreads to see how it works out and untill i have more freedom to do a whole head.....i refuse not to have any at all!!!
now i have been told soooo many diffrent things to do singular dreads and to be honest i am so confussed right now and a little lost i dont know what im doing so any help or advice would be great
