My dreads wont lay down...

Dreading Methods

I used the jamaican mango and Lime locking gel in it. The dreads are actually not hard...they just refuse to lay back and lay down. they lay every other direction though...smh

Hello All....I'm new around town..

Introduce Yourself

ok..sounds good. I need to show you a more recent picture. They dont look anything like twists anymore. I think because my hair is so coarse its already locking after almost a month. I washed them the other day and NONE of the twists came out and i washed them as normal. I'll post a more recent picture tomorrow. Thank you soo much for your input. I have been afraid to wash them like I used to wash my regular hair. I used to do so weekly. Anyways I'll keep you updated. cant wait for the finished locs

Hello All....I'm new around town..

Introduce Yourself

Just wanted to stop in and Say hello to everyone here. I just recently started my dread journey...actually about 3 weeks ago today. My hair is kinda at the AHHHHHH stage where its not listening to me..doesnt lay down, and kinda looks a mess. I'm learning to embrace the beautiful chaos and move forward with my life. Its been a difficult road so far as I long for the finished mature dreads many of you currently have. I figured this site would help me to learn more about this process and to speak to others when I freak out about my hair and how its changing. I'll include a picture of my hair as it was first done 3 weeks ago. I did the comb twist method, and am just gunna let it go from here.I have used the jamaican mango and lime cool locking gel to start with, and I spritz my hair with rosemary tea. I washed it once so far with the jamaican mango and lime tingle shampoo, and thats about it. It doesnt lay down, and the parts are quite big. I currently have 38 dreads in my hair.Any words of wisdom or anything would be appreciated. Once again WUUUUZZZUP.. lol. Feel free to stop through and hit me up.

Twisting dreadlocks Theories?

Dread Maintenance

I really get my hair twisted only because I work in a business where it isnt acceptable to have crazy hair. I do love my hair, and now I've gone from getting it twisted ever week or two ...till now where its a once a month affair just to keep things tidy. I'm fully aware that it doesn't help my hair dread...I just use it as a means to keep things neater.
