hey yall, just dyed some of my tips blonde and curled them. To make them curly I just put some aloe gelly in my hair after a good wash and braided my whole head, then left the braids in for a day and then took the braids out.

Heres a few pics, I really like the way they came out....

@Ashley Eve:lol yeah thats my mama, she actually thought my hair was braided in plaits for a week after I started kntting it up, then she saw they were knots and was like "ohhh, cool." haha.

@Knottysleeves: thanks, yeah I'm really looking forwad to watching them change as they grow. I was looking at your pics and I think our hair kinda looks similarat your 5 months, hopefully when mine mature a little more theyll turn out as nice as yours are

yeah im not using that shampoo anymore, I was kinda scared of the wax when I first started them so the one time I used it i used an extremely small amount, and immediately regretted it. I've done a couple ACV rinses since and I'm pretty sure i got it all out.

hey yall, just reached my first month locking up. Found this site right after I started my locks using DHHQ products, and am glad because I was able to get school'd on how to get healthier locks and am loving how they are turning out and staying all natural.

I startd them using the backcomb method and did all the work myself. I think I have between 40-50 locks, havent counted them since I originally parted out my hair, but as I backcombed I changed a few sections so now my exact number is a mystery. I kept rubberbands at the roots and tips for my frst 2 washes but I didnt feel like my hair was being washed properly because of them (especially near my scalp) so I took them out. I was scared washing them without rubber bands would mess up my new locks but they actually stayed together really well, very very minimal loose hairs.

At first I blunted my tips with the DHHQ latch hook but actually decided I preferred the natural wispy look so I undid them.

My only maintenance is washing 1-2 times a week, i'm using the DHHQ shampoo but i think it may be giving me dandruff so i'm thinking of using this shampoo i bought from whole foods, natures gate with tea tree shampoo ( http://www.natures-gate.com/shop/showitem.asp?ProductId=41100051&menuId=237&withLinks=1 ) . I also spray my dreads with water/peppermint essential oil mixture for fragrance.

If anyonehas experience with the natures gate shampoo please share experiences, ide appreciate it, or if you know any other goodshampoos (something from whole foods would be great since i do a lot of my shopping there.) I'm basically trying to get rid of this dandruff i started to get when i started locking, it has drastically decreased since i removed the rubberbands and started doing ACV rinses but still comes back a little about a day or two aftr washing. I've also been hearing great things about aloe vera in dreads, so i'm thinking about giving it a try to make my dreads look a little neater for certain occasions. Anything yall wanna share would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
