If no to interlocing, then what??

Dreading Methods

I personally would suggest that you put up some photos of your locks so we can see what's going on exactly.

A lot of people here are going the natural route where all you have to do is keep your dreads clean and seperate themto keep them from congoing(getting too big)

I would suggest checking the forums about dreadlock maintenance and take a visit over to SoaringEagle's page. He has had his locks for over 20 years and has a lot of knowledge he can share with you.

I let them freeform.I just didn't comb my hair and let them be. I just let form on their own. I washed them often in the beginning and that help to make them knot up more. I don't do any twisting,rubbing,etc.... I don't even really style them anymore because the less tension on my scalp the better. I just love having them hang down.

Thank you for the nice words about my dreadlocks! :) I agree with what SoaringEagle says. I don't want to imagine what they would have been like. I just love them for where they are now.

I ran out of the dreadlock wax removal shampoo and tried to order more but they are not selling it anymore. So the other day I tried the Dawn dish soap and it works like a charm. I didn't want to cut my dreads off so I was glad feel how much softer they are after this treatment.

I'm just going to do it once a week followed up with a acv rinse. I did lose some length in some of them but the part that is gone was because of the wax so I am not unhappy that some of them are shorter. They are healthier and that is what matters!

@Dreadtheworld thank you so much for your kind words.

I had cut my dreads several years ago thinking I needed to look more professional for job interviews but I didn't cut them completely off. I just evened them out. I haven't done that since then. I have just let it grow intheir different shapes and sizes without any intervention.

Patience is the key for sure and I have learned to just keep them clean and to let them be how they want to be.

I know at 13yrs my dreads would have been longer if I would have just left them alone but I can't look back I can only concentrate on the present and I am happy to have them.

They will be with me til I die!

Thanks fancyAmanda!

I am in it for the long term. I have never felt so liberated as when decided to get rid of my combs, brushes, and curling irons! Also known as tortrue devices. I never liked to comb my hair and hated when my mom yank and rip at my head to "tame"my tightly coiled hairs.

I went to your photo gallery. Your dreads are looking very nice! It seems you are enjoying the journey.!

Lots of love to you and your healthy locks! :-]
