thick or thin dreads for blonde hair

Dreading Methods

*clapping hands @ new dreddie's posts*

Thank you.

First, not everyone with pencil thin dreads are salon-manufactured. Some of my dreads are thin and the have not seen the hands of another person, except my husband :) You CAN have freeformed thin dreads ya know. Do a little research.

Also, who made YOU the dread judge talking about what Black people have you barely consider to be dreads. WTF!!! You can't be serious...

This site is pretty funny @ times :/

First wash.. seeking advice

Dread Maintenance

Sea salt stuff...???Leave the sea salt alone. Your hair doesn't need it nor does your hair need to be retwisted.Your hair will loc up in due time and twisting won't make it happen quicker.

Dreads & racism

Life Issues Facing Dreads

The bolded below is key. I know it is probably hard because you are in high school but you got to brush it off. If they see that it bothers you, then they will probably continue. If it isn't the dreads, it'll be something else. Are they racist? Based on the info that I am reading here, no. Are they immature high school kids? Yup.

all in all people it really doesn't matter if you're tall or short, fat or skinny, pale or dark have dreads or straight hair there's always going to be someone who feels the need to comment about it. Ya just gotta let it roll off your back! If you don't allow it to bother you then it will no longer be an issue. Nobody is immune from stupid and sometimes hurtful comments from others. You can't control what people say to you so just embrace it! Learn to love what makes you unique! When I was young (6th grade maybe?) My biggest problem in life was my lips were too big and I was tall. LOL! People pay money for big lips and wear crazy shoes to be taller! So now when anyone say's something to me about my height (5'9") Wow you're tall for a girl I say I know thank you! So if someone says something like oh look white boy with dreads you say yes I am! Thanks for noticing!Be proud and those things shouldn't bother you. Many Blessings My Beautiful Phreaks!!!!

Dreads & racism

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I wasn't going to comment but I have to ask...what are they saying or are they just looking at you funny? Do they specifically say that because you are white that you shouldn't have dreads? Are you and these people in high school (which I am assuming from your last sentence)?

The things other websites say..

Dread Maintenance

After reading it, I don't think they were referring specifically to freeform locs there. They mention freeform locs in the beginning of the article but the page itself was discussing dread maintenance. But sure, if you have african/curly hair and want to maintain by twisting then that is how you maintain them. Once you maintain by twisting, you are no longer freeform. The page has other bogus statements though for example:"More successful dreadlock wearers wash their hair every two weeks." which is BS and "Visit a loctition for annual dreadlock maintenance." LOL.

looking for a easy and painless way to dread.

Dreading Methods

Since you have nappy hair, just freeform from the start...that's pretty easy, minimal pain.If you twist, don't twist tightly also, you won't need a rubber band to hold the twist.Depending on how nappy your hair is LOL, conditioner stoppage won't affect your hair's ability to dread.I used conditioner from the start and had no issues.
