Dread Maintenance

should i use a blow dryer when i do wash the hair?or does the blow dryer dry the hair TOO much? or does that help in the dreading process?

Dread Maintenance

alright guys i made the decision to start dreads 2 days ago. my hairs about medium length.is it ok to shower daily and wash my head with water? (just put my head under the shower head for a few seconds) not really run my hands through my hair or manipulate the hairs at all, but just run water through it daily?i am an active person. i workout daily and do sweat a lot. so a shower a day is a MUST.also how many times per week should i wash with a light, non residue, organic shampoo? once? twice? does washing with shampoo more often slow/stagnate/disrupt the dreading process?

i had a feeling i was going to hear a response like this :(down more than $120.....the thing is she's ebony and has dread herself?....she eve uses the same method on herself...she is a nice lady and i really don't think she meant to do me any damage?? I have been in contemplation of asking for 1/2 my money back....i was in doubt the first few days after examining her work...i just didnt feel it was 'right' or what i had really asked for..then again...its almost 5 hours later after the first 'touch up' and my scalp is still throbbing...

Introduce Yourself

i had them done at a braid shop 2 1/2 weeks ago. an ebony braid shop.1. what methods are u going to use2. what products will be used3. what maintenance do you recommend4. when can i wash after dreading1. im a total noob. she ended up doing a backcomb/crochet method/ then tied the the sections to my scalp2. no products3. she said come back the every 2 weeks for 1 month...then dont need to come back so often?4. cant wet hair for 1 month she said..she the process took 5 hours and cost me $120.... she said come back the every 2 weeks for 1 month...then dont need to come back so often?here are pictures of what she did.....to be honest i don't feel confident in what she had done....im browsing around and see that alot of people don't use this 'tie to your scalp method....it was very painful as she ties the sections of hair really tight to my scalp....at the moment my scalp is throbbing...also very painful to sleep the first 2 night after i had this done...can you guys tell me if what she did was right? i really don't know what to do here and am really regretting not doing my proper research beforehand....i did not realize this was an arduous processi think what she did was 'braidlocs' ?? i really am not sure...
