Dread Maintenance

Okay... As usual, a misunderstanding has developed around my business name. Apparently, Betsy and I chose the name at the same time. I am sorry if I made it seem like she has stolen the name from me. Betsy is a good person, she really is. She is just devoted to her cause just as you guys are devoted to yours. Everyone has their own preferance as to what looks good and what way is the best. It is the exact same thing with religion.

Thanks man. Yeah, Betsy kinda took the name Knotty By Nature from me and changed it a bit. I am a little upset about the similarity of the name, but I try not to bitch too much. Everyone has their faults. I have noticed, SE, that you are a bit abrupt and it is hard to hear what you have to say when you say it the way you do.

Is this how you guys show your love and understanding?? Maybe she doesn't realize that she is doing it wrong. try constructive criticism. Don't bash her behind her back. You guys make me sick. I thought that dread heads were a family and had a higher standard of living.

At least Johnny Clean doesn't go around bashing people, talking shit behind their back, and calling people names. *sighs* His products might not be good, but he is a good person.... that is more than I can say about you guys.

oh my bad.. I thought the salt lady had said knotty by nature .. listening again it was knotted by nature maybe ;)

Dread Maintenance

The only way to stop ignorance is to provide information. I know SE provides information, but he bashes people with it and makes it so they don't like him, and thus don't like what he is saying. There is more than one way to get great looking dreads. Betsy may not have been using a good method, but if she doesn't know another way how can she be blamed??I backcomb and I use a crochet hook (gently and sparingly) it works for me, but I have reformed the technique so that it causes minimal damage. She hasn't been doing dreads on others for very long, everyone had to start somewhere.... Don't hate and bash, love and inform.

Money and ignorance have fucked up the world really bad

the problem is that people believe they have to do this kind of shit to their hair to have great dreads (including myself before),, maybe if they knew about other methods they wouldn`t dare or wouldn`t choose to try this kind of things.....

so the battle is against ignorance and people abusing of ignorance to earn money ...... information should be provided to everyone ..... ...still maybe there is people who only want dreads for the look or for a short period of time .... so they need this kind of methods......

Dreading Methods

He had had a dread perm and they werent coming along like they should have been. I did not use a crochet hook down the length of his dreads. He wanted his ends blunted so I did some backcombing (THE CLIENT DID NOT WANT FREE FORM DREADS) then pulled the ends up into the dread. I crochet the ends to hold the hairs inside the dread. Everything I did was at the request of the client and he is much happier now. The way they turned out was exactly the way he wanted them. You may not like the way they looked afterward, but the client was thrilled to pieces. I do what the client wants. I know how to use the crochet technique without causing and significant damage.

well 1 thing i saw knotty and nice do that i totaly did not agree with was there was a kid with 1 month dreads that looked exactly like 1 month dreads should look and then he came to u and im guessing u crocheted them
1st they looked better b4 they wrre done and 2 they were progressing exactly as they should have progressed and the crochet would mean an extra 6 months ti recover from the crochet

at 1 month theres no reason ever to interfere in the progress

Dreading Methods

Yeah, that makes me really sad because I am one of the good ones. LOL. I have talked to SE and he even approves of my techniques. There are some people that don't know better and request weird things, but I try to accommodate all types of dreadheads. I won't use wax unless I am specifically asked to, and even then I use as little as possible to cause as little damage as possible. I would rather someone come to me than to slather their dreads with wax.... You know?I even try to help those folks that have free form dreads. I can help "Section" them by ripping locked pieces apart (if so desired). My mom always told me that she would rather me do something with her help so she knows I am safe, rather than to try to do it on my own and hurt myself.... I guess I feel the same way about dreadlocks.

Not all "locticians" are wax using hacks. I own Knotty By Nature and I do dreadlocks in many different ways. I have never had anyone else work on my hair, but I love working on people's dreads and seeing how happy they are with their results
