Questions about Baby dreads

General Questions

I'm not sure what the twist and pin method is, but first thing first, do not put any more wax in your hair. It only slows the process down giving you the illusion that your hair is locking. It never gets out and its just nasty shit. There is a wax removal guide on this site,i highly recommend you find it and start getting as much out as possible. Don't spray hair spray in your hair, that isn't doing anything for you. Dreads are locked hair not hair stuck together by wax and hair spray. Wash your hair using a non residue shampoo,a lot of the members on this site prefer to use a mixture of baking soda and essential oils followed by a apple cider vinegar rinse. There are guides out on the site how to tailor the wash to your particular needs. Clean hair dreads faster them dirty hair. I wash every 2 or3 days.

Essential oil perfume in dread wash?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Seems like a good idea to me. I put lavender in my wash and rinse.

I did 90% of my own TnR if not more, when I did my sectioning I went with size of area and all but I sort of went with how the hair seeeeemmmed to want to go. I didn't take any section that didn't feel like it wanted to go into a certain section. And I have yet to have any that fell apart (completely) to reknot.

That's awesome :)
Dreadlocks are definitely right if you want a change in your life. When I started mine I hadn't even known they would impact me inside as much as they have. They've given me a sense of security and filled me with much more self confidence than I've ever had :D

TnR is the way to go... I did it and couldn't be happier with the results!

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I have been considering moving to BC as well or at least somewhere in the NW US NaturalWomyn said:
Hubby and I have actually been thinking about moving to Canada for a while now, BC, maybe the prairies of Saskatchewan, just not sure if we can stand the cold! The laws that would effect us are much more lax there.

Total Newbie

Introduce Yourself

I recommend TnR as well. I consider it the "semi-controlled" way to start going natural. As in my case, I TnR'd and now I just wash em and watch em evolve into something beautiful. I was of the mindset that I wanted uniform "perfect" dreads all the same size, no frizzies etc etc when I first joined this site. I am so happy with my decision now and whats going on with my crazy loopy frizzie locks :) Shayla Waychoff said:
Thanks to everyone who said I was pretty. :D And thank you everyone for your wonderful advice. I think I won't go natural, because as Soaring Eagle said, I just don't think it's me. But I know that whatever I do choose, I'll be happy.

WPD? WTF?

Introduce Yourself

Yes we are the hottest aren't we? NaturalWomyn said:
"A much rarer find is a WPD who is also attractive. Since, for white people, the formation of true dreadlocks generally requires a sustained lack of personal grooming, WPDs are at an attractiveness disadvantage from the get-go." heh they obviously haven't been to this site! We have LOADS of Good Lookin Dreadies! GLD!! LOL

WPD? WTF?

Introduce Yourself

I suppose curiosity overwhelmed me. I can always get a laugh off the ignorant. I can walk in my work and take pics of every race of people with WAY more silly looking hairstyles. I think the whole "white people stealing culture" thing is just some angry "go to" move with certain people. Like I said, people are people not colors.....were not fucking crayons

I thought it was funny too, did you take the time to read through the comments? WOW, when are people going to start being people and not colors. I fear the future.
