Afghan Dryness!!!

Introduce Yourself

Hey all,

I am in Afghanistan for the next 6months. i've been here for about 6wks. my hair has become really dry. i was wondering if you guys had any ideas that would help. I'm using Dr. Bronners to wash, and the water out here is super hard. wondering if i should just get some over the counter conditioner and rinse really well. I don't have access to things like BS and ACV. so any thoughts?

dreads and jobs

dreads jobs employment issues

I am a Defense Contractor. I work as a Systems Analyst doing Integration and testing for different Military projects. I was hired on before i started locking up my hair. I had been with this company for about two years. This being my third time locking i had seen the way some ignorant people act to dreads. So i was quite nervous since i work in such a professional environment. but i had figured i've shown my skills and put in work and didn't feel like i would catch too much hell. for quite a long time i would always where a tam at work. then eventually people of course started asking if i had dreads and i could not lie. i kept wearing the tam and i believe i finally sported them on Halloween when i dressed as a pirate. everyone loved my costume and i think a few people were not sure if i was wearing a wig or not. but now i wear my dreads out quite a bit at work. i still wear a tam or a bandanna as to keep my hair out of the way. mostly people just ask the normal questions that we all hear almost on a daily basis. "How did you get your hair to do that?", "do you wash your hair?" so anyway it has gone pretty smoothly and i have a promotion coming up. so all i can say is "Grow your dreadlocks and don't be afraid of the wolfpack" -Sir Bob of Marley-
