Hi

Introduce Yourself

I boil water and add 3tsp of sea salt, 3 drops of lemon juice and a bag of peppermint tea. Peppermint is soothing but you can use other teas. It gives it a good smell as well. After that i let it cool in a bowl in the fridge and then pour it into a spray bottle. It not only smells great but locks up my hair way faster. Ive been noticing my hair locking faster this time. I twist and palm roll every 2 days for the first week. Ill be doing it less as time moves up. I like the circular shape and i have to keep them neat. So far so good. I look less like sideshow bob today. Ive only got 32 dreads tho so its not as much work as the 60 ish i had before.

Hi! I have the feeling this time will be more successful for you. I had my first set of dreds years & years ago & this time around, so much easier because I had learned a lot the first time around.

What did you put in your locking accelerator? I'm just curious.

Hi

Introduce Yourself

yah i got all the wax out when i took out the original set. I washed with dr rbonners for 2 months before restarting. I would love to neglect but because i work with the public i wanted to section to be more presentable.Back combing sucks and hurts but its far less destructive than crochet. I can keep an eye on these better and i put them up in my tam for work at the moment. But im only allowed to have the tam on a special while im locking basis.Ill see how it all forms and turns out. Im loving this right now as i have no wax like last time to get all over my clothes or my face. Plus i live in a super cold climate so my hair would freeze instantly because of the wax before. So at least this time im completely wax free. I did make a home made locking accelerator. Even last time that stuff helped immensely. Just helped them shift together better as it dried up. I basically did it to put the theory to the test personally. Wax or no wax. So ill know by experiment in the coming months.

Hi

Introduce Yourself

Ive been a member for a while but i combed out my old dreads which were started with wax. I did section my new set and then washed with dr bronners then rinsed with sea salt water. Back combed again. Last night i looked like sideshow bob. I still kinda do. My goal is try not tointerfereto much with the locking from here on.

Ill put up some pictures soon. Im interested to see the non was vs wax as i had my wax started deads for 2 years. I did get a ton of wax out of them but i did notice when combing them out that there was still lots inside em,

Hopefully these bad boys hold together !

Im probably as far away from you as north americianly possible haha. I live in Calgary Alberta Canada I have a bunch of workshops ill be doing mid march through September. Anyone who wants to do them is welcome to come and do them. We have a group up for people who are interested in purchasing communal land just for this purpose. It can end up being super cheap to live and build if the group is big enough and is dedicated. Id be interested in chipping in on land anywhere that isnt cold as hell. Even more interested if it was close to the ocean. Anyways feel free to join our group. I want to set up a meeting with all the group members sometime this week. If we can get a few more!! I built the whole thing myself. My 2100 square foot home cost me $9800 the land was $20,000 . I read the books i had friends help me 1 electrician and 1 plumber come in and give a hand. Local companies donated windows, tires, cans, dirt, wiring and pipe. I made my own adobe mixture with hay. It took me over a year to build it. Im building another one not to far away for a client. But then im going to british columbia to build next to the lake. Ill probably at that point sell this one or rent it out. Im not sure. Anyone whos in my area is welcome to stop by and pound tires and learn how to build an earthship! just message me here and ill let you know what the building dates are!

i used to use DHhq soap. I use dr bronners 12/1 diluted. I use the peppermint and add oils because i prefer the peppermint smell. I have soft water and it does eem to condition a bit much sometimes. I do like the baking soad but the plants in my earthship dont seem to care for the baking soda water. The do however grow fine with the doctor bronners greywater. I might just end up rerouting my shower to the grey water tank. If i end up having to use baking soda more often. But i just hate to see that water go to waste.
