A major setback.. again??**SIGH***

Life Issues Facing Dreads

my hair is boyishly short thats why I wanted to coil comb it.. the lady at the salon chopped my hair off(GRR!) off she didn't even cut my hair evenly..My hair is long in the front and it gets shorter going towards the back..i took out my braids today, I had them in for 4months.I've been getting advice all day some people tell me to cutt my hair and start over... other people tell me i can go ahead and dread.. i just have to do my hair a different way.. My friend today.. told me i should go ahead and seperate my hair in sections with a rubber band. when i go to comb coil it i should put the shorter hair with the longer hair (basically combine sections)... I'm not even sure what she said myself, lol..But i don't know what to do because the last two times i went to the salon were tragic.. and I don't even know how to cut my hair properly.. what should i do?This isn't the first time I've had a problem I have been trying to grow dreads since the beginning of the year.. 5months ago.. my hair was good. I was just going to go get it trimmed until that happened.. and now.. its still a problem its like i'm dealing with so much crap.. and i haven't even started day 1 yet..Its really making me feel down, because there's always a problem. I feel like I'm cursed.. i really do..

Really dry hair

Dread Maintenance

Yeah, i've been reading that baking soda is the most effective, so, I'm not going to get rid of that.. its probably one of the best things that I just did to my hair..I forgot to use the ACV.. but i'll use it next time I wash.. i still got the cocoa butter so--I'll just stick with these 3 items and i'll just find a smell good oil to use.. soaringeagle said:
if u wanna use shampoo u can ..recomend a non residue 1 but the baking soda gets u so much cleaner..plus whjen dreads are young they are delicate, so scrubbing to lather can cause them to fall apart, the baking soda u dont scrub so its safer..

the vinagar smell fades fast..ofcourse u rince it well but in an hour or 2 u cant smell it
but go ahead skip it just ad he cocoa butter insread

wouldn't it be easier to just use shampoo?I wouldn't mind using ACV but i don't want my hair smelling like vinegar.. soaringeagle said:
aloe or cocoa butter work wonderfully

for the baking soda add herbal oils fir scent and medicinal effect
non medicinal oils like nag champa or patchouli can be added too which will give a lil moisturizing

jojoba oil thou is the closest to natural skin/scalp oils..its lil expensive i think but really worth it

u can add the oils to both the wash, and a rince..if u dont like the vinagar rince then just add coco butter or aloe to water with the herbs..

rosemary is great fior dandruff control so id start there

Really dry hair

Dread Maintenance

I used the baking soda..It worked... it really worked, lol.... I can't find any dandruff in it at all... I'm not sure, If i want to stick to that because I do want my hair smelling good.. (so i'll take some suggestions on that too)Ok now..The main part I'm going to be worrying about is moisturizing my hair.. I don't want it to get too dry. LIKE IT IS RIGHT NOW. I want to start twisting my hair tonight.. but they twists aren't going in my hair right now aways, because of the dryness.I do have some cocoa butter and I was told that I could use it on my hair..I get new growth really fast so after i finish my hair. I'm not touching it for about 3-4 weeks.. but if i don't have it properly moisturized right now.. its probably not going to do anything but fall out.

Dying your hair from black to red without bleaching

General Talk

I'm so excited.. i FINALLY got those braids out of my hair, I'm going to try a baking soda and vinegar wash for the first time.. later on today.I've decided that I'm NOT going to use any peroxide or bleach in my hair.. its not worth it. And I will look good either way.I did get a barbie doll head ( the ones that they use at the salon) first try.. i mixed 2 kool aid packets, and I got the color i wanted.. I'm testing it out on the doll.. not sure if I'm going to use it or not, thats not a really big deal.. its harmless but..putting all those chemicals in my hair is not worth it at all.. plus my hair is actually pretty thick and nice right now, that would totally ruin it..So.. I'm not doing it... THANKS GUYS:D;D
