Natural no comb method.

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

I can do the baking soda wash from here out, i usually use just basic shampoo with no conditioner or anything special, the kind that would usually dry your head out if used in long periods :P. i'll start cutting back to a few times a week and in between washes just rinse my head, as it gets very hot here and avoiding sweating is just not possible. Since it's only day 4 of no brushing not much has happened so i don't have much to lose.

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

Should i wash my hair less or just keep living my normal life and wait for them to do their own thing?

Natural no comb method.

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

I started with an attempt at twist and rip method about a month and a half ago and since have decided to start over (especially since i used wax.) I have since let my hair grow another 3 or 4 inches and have now decided to just not comb it and let my hair do its own thing. However i am still fairly new to the world of dreads and am not quite sure what to expect. Any advice or words of wisdom would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Whens the best time to start washing my dreads?

Dread Maintenance

If my hair would stay sectioned that long without help i wouldnt worry but the location of the loose locks make it difficult not to worry about them. I need to go buy more stuff for my hair care anyway so i might as well pick up some beads. I was just kind of hoping it wouldnt take so long for them to start locking back up considering im about to be doing a lot of traveling within the next month but oh well. Patience is key.

Whens the best time to start washing my dreads?

Dread Maintenance

Alright so after washing my hair the other day with a BS wash and swimming that night in the ocean( probably not a smart day to do both) some of my smaller locks are still undone and im curious how or when they may start fixing themselves? I trust the advice i get from fellow dread heads just not sure how they start locking back up. Thanks guys and gals!

I know i ask tons of questions but im a curious man. It was probably dumb to do but i went swimming tonight in the ocean and some of my smaller locks came undone, i dont plan to TnR them again but just keep them from locking with the others. Should i be worried? Put bands at my roots? Anything special to help them?

Whens the best time to start washing my dreads?

Dread Maintenance

Did my first BS wash today and im really worried. I made my solution slowly poured it on my head, massaged a little into my scalp for itching, then wrapped my hair up for a bit like i read. Then i took a shower and rinsed my hair while in there, squeezed my locks after to get excess water out and now im letting them dry. My baby locks are really frizzy and didnt seem to loosen up any yet like i thought. Can someone let me know if i made a mistake or if this cleaning method seems okay to continue with?
