Human hair extensions

General Questions

I understand and I agree. I'm not trying to do it to be cool or anything. I just have short hair on both sides of my head towards the front. I really want my bangs back though and if I do them I'll basically have no hair on the front half of my head lol. I'm not intending to do it to impress anyone else. I just know how I want my hair to look for ME. And it's not like it's going to be a full head of fake dreads. I'm looking at two MAYBE three on each side is all it's going to take. Basically just filling in what will be a bald patch if I cut my bangs.

I have an issue with extensions. I understand that you have decided not to do it...but I still need to say this. Dreads are so beautiful because they are natural. People with dreads go through the whole experience. They go through shrinkage, messiness and finally length and beautiful dreads. Like the ugly duckling. I know people who have fake dread extensions and fake nails, fake eyelashes and do all kinds of things to their bodies to make themselves feel better...or whatever. The thing is....it is fake. People who have dreads can look at someone and know that it is fake. Why... I mean seriously... why do people want to have fake dreads? Will that make them instantly cool? Will that give you lot cred? Will you try to convince yourself that fake is as good as real? and if it is just the look that someone is going for...why bother in the first place? I truly do not understand.

Human hair extensions

General Questions

Hrm. I didn't think about that but yea makes sense it wouldn't work. I guess for the time being I'll leave it alone. I'm super impatient and dreads are a very challenging hairstyle for me lol.

TnR won't work on anything shorter than 6 inches. Even at 6 inches they are going to come completely undone after the first few washes. Mine came completely undone at 18 inches. It's just the way things have to happen in order to get natural dreads.

Just realize that with extensions it will take twice as long for your real hair to actually start dreading. You're essentially hanging a weight on the end of your hair and it won't allow it to move the way it needs to in order to dread. That is the biggest reason we usually suggest waiting. Allowing your hair to actually begin dreading on it's own makes sure that things are progressing as they should before you add the extensions.

Human hair extensions

General Questions

I want to get bangs again and if I do my hair is going to look super thin up top and I won't be happy with it. That's why I want to do the extensions. The last time I did dreads I was unhappy with the way they looked from day one and ended up taking them out. I want to do them right this time but I also want to be satisfied with them too.

Most human hair dread extensions are permed because that's how they tighten them up into an actual matured dreadlock. I wouldn't be perming my own hair just the extensions. But like I said I'd rather find a way around the perm mostly because I just can't afford it. Or if it's possible put them in before they're tightened and let them mature with my natural locks.

And I really don't mean this to sound offensive in any way but I'm not worried about bad energy or anything like that. I've had extensions before, just not dread ones and had no problem with them, in fact I love them. I understand that the best possible way to do them would be into a matured dread but I'd really like to have them from the start. Mostly what I've found says to sew them in, but if it's a newer dread that might not be possible. Not sure what other methods are available.

I'm most likely going to do the extensions very early on. I know I'm being stubborn and it's not the most ideal way to add them, but I'm just trying to be honest. I've been playing around with the idea for awhile and decided that it is the best idea for me.

let the short hair grow longer and dread naturaly as it grows

permed/ are u serius.? whered u see em do that

horible idea u can tnr the extentions but

u will hate habing extentions they will feel fake disconnected ..like someone elses energy on your head

they will probly get removed in weeks

now also to asd extentions u really want to have something to artach them too...a solid dread yea some alons will attach extentions on day 1 then 3 days later have to reattach them

but we really dont recomend adding extentions till they are 8 months old so u have established dreads to exrtend and support the weight of the added hair

just leave the short hair short dread the reat and when the short hairs long it will dread itself

Human hair extensions

General Questions

About to start my second journey with dreads and I have a spot with super short hair that I'm going to put human hair extensions in.

Does anyone have any advice with using human hair extensions? I'm making them myself and I really don't want to perm them it seems most are. Not really sure how I'm going make them lol.

Also advice on dreading short hair would be welcomed. I intend to do the twist and rip method with my long hair but not sure how that'll work or if it will at all with my shorter hair. It's roughly two inches.

Anyway, any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My dreads were super long, now theyre super short....is this normal???

Help! Save My Dreads

I was extremely glad to come across this post. My dreads did the exact same thing as yours. Until now I hadn't seen anyone's dreads that looked quite like mine. I was super worried that I was doing something wrong but I'm relieved to know someone else's shrank like mine.

I'm at a little more than six months now and mine look pretty much still like the last picture you posted with a few completely locked up dreads all over. So I lost a total of about a foot and a half of length. =O I wish I hadn't lost so much length but there's not anything to do about it other than hope they grow super fast. XD
