No product some backcombing

Hey all my name is jon. I have been searching in these forums since yesterday. I am amazed at how much love and guidance this community is offering. Thank all you folks for contributing. I have ben letting my hair dread for about three weeks now. I have not used any products but I was convinced by a friend with locks to back comb. I have naturally curly hair that forms in sections so I just teased them some by back combing. I noticed the spots i neglected are dreading faster and now that I've read these forums I'm going to forget that completely. Is there anything I can do to help what damage I may have caused by combing or should I just leave it alone altogether. I also use baking soda and herb mixture to wash my head once a week. Any suggestions or comments are very welcome. Thank you.
