Awesome. Thank you guys for your answers, really. I have been looking and asking everywhere. Now I just need to decide if I should let it grow a bit more or start now, either way I can not wait to start them!! Thank you!!

Alright, well I am glad. She seemed to know what she was talking about and her dreads were amazing. So is there no way to tame the fuzzies for a while or just let it do its thing?

sorry about that. I am not sure what she called it, I know it wasn't backcombing, she was very clear I shouldn't do that and she didn't use any chemicals or wax. I read that page and it had a lot of information, thank you!a

how did your freind do that dread

do not use wax! any way that makes them look mature fast makes them not last

you will ruin them if you try to hurry them its a journey in fact the slow way is the best way

just stop combing

I want dreads so bad! I have a few concerns the first person I talked to said I would lose 4 inches of length when I did them, so I will want to wait a few more months if that is true. I had another friend who has had her dreads for about 8 years do one dread in my hair, it looked like a caterpillar. Is there any way to start the dreads where thry will look a bit more mature in the beginning? it was so fuzzy. I have been told wax helps but not to use it. I do not know what to do or where to start, help!
