I want to keep my dreads! Help!

Introduce Yourself

I have had my dreads for about eight months now. They are a loopy mess (loops that stick out over 1.5 inches) and my parents wont let me keep them if they do not look better soon. They have lots of loose hairs. They have also picked up a bad odor, however a wash the with residue free shampoo regularly. I need to be able to tame these relatively quickly or my head may be shaved :'( please help! Thank you so much!

Help! I have neglected my back combed dreads!

Dread Maintenance

Hi guys. So I realized that dreadheadhq products were bad for my hair so I quit using them. All I have been using is the shampoo. I used their wax remover and I've been using the neglect method ever since. My hair has gone crazy. It is full of lumps and bumps. The roots are not dreading. What can I do to salvage them? Or are they okay?.

Sleeping with a tam

Dreading Methods

I used to sleep with a tam on. It was awesome but I don't think iit helped me out any. My dreads were kinda stuck together a little in the morning. Not too bad though. That said, the tam my head itch like crazy! If you want to sleep with something on your head to manage dreads, try a nice breathable scarf :). Its probably best not to sleep with anything on your head though. Just sayin :)

Hello beautiful dreadlocked People :)

Introduce Yourself

Hi. I am so excited to finally be on this website :). I am a teenage girl trying to recover from dread abuse. I used wax and attempted to crochet a few dreads with a pencil! that was stupid... I play my guitar and love all things natural. Anyway, look forward to chatting with you all!Peace Love and Happiness,Sierra

So one thing that really helps me tame my roots is to sleep with the scarf on My head. It isn't too bad if you get a very comfortable scarf. It has really helped tame my dreads and it would probably help even more if I wore it more often. Good luck! And please post again to say what works best because I could always use more tips =).
