Greetings from a dread-a-holic in Finland

Introduce Yourself

go for it. dont cop out and comb them out (btw when i heard that you could COMB out your dreads i about passed out from confusion) but yea Im 26 and I started mine this year. I know about those freak out moments! I have had several. I think its because dreads are such a statement and a permanent in your face one at that. You have wanted them for so long, there is no better time than now and the one main thing im learning from mine is patience and self love. sometimes shit looks funny but you just gota roll with it. or put a scarf on ;)

twisting dreads through themselves..???

Dread Maintenance

Nope. my dreads are gona last a life time <3 I can feel how strong they are and im sorry that some weird shit happens to other people but i think that looping occasionally is cool, the roots naturally dread up too but at the beginning they need a lil coaxing when your not using products or bands or anything. Im sorry that you find my approaches so upsetting. Just let if flow man. IDK maybe I am a superhuman indigo child with the power of strong strong hair?!! Hey its possible. And I know in my gut and that is the most important thing that I am not harming my hair. I actually treat it really well and spray it occasionally with some yummy sea salt water mixed with organic rosemary, neroli, jasmine and lavender essential oils. My scalp and dreads are well taken care of. Thank you for your overwhelming concern tho. I mostly just let my dreads do what they do, i just dont take the its the end of the world approach to anything regarding hair... its hair.

I DO NOT think its cool that you take my positive nature and compare that wonderful trait i poses to a loose unprotected friend who got aids from sleeping around, what a way to talk about a friend tho right? Your approaches in communication are neanderthalish.

Stop attacking people and their ideas. You trap more flies with honey sweetie. Let this just be an open forum for people to discuss dreads <3 Their certainly not worth fighting over or using harsh language. SE I think your dreads are beautiful, and I think most peoples on here are beautiful and i definitely think mine are beautiful. Let it be.

You guys are so funny. To each their own. I dont hate on yours dont be hating on mine. and there is more than one way to cross a river, just depends on how wet you want to get and how many resources you have at your disposal.

my dreads are my religion in as much as my whole body is my religion. I love it all, i love us all, i attend the church of one and practice my devotion with kindness, understanding and open mindedness. I definitely will take all your opinions into consideration but reserve my right to make up my mind for myself.

Blessings.

Dread Maintenance

i live in a town fulla dreads (Asheville) and i got most of my information from friends and locals who I would approach who have beautiful years old dreads and asking them what their deal is with theirs and what they do with them. I have gotten a handful of responses but for the most part my favorite dreaddie headdies do the pull through method and have been doing it for years and their dreads are stunning <3 but I do love headbands and scarfs so Im all about those options too.

Dread Maintenance

it matters a lot to people how they look when you have to hold down a job that requires a clean kept appearance. I will pull my dreads through the roots to tighten them up, never have had a problem with them breaking or having weak spots. You just have to make sure you dont flip it through when there is not enough loose roots or it will get too tight and cause bumps and rash and itchies. Then the next time you want to tighten them up you MUST find a different space to pull it through or it stars looking like 2 coiled ropes wrapping around each other.

respect to those who disagree... but i have had success with this method.

Blessings.
