after 5 weeks

Dread Maintenance

So after 5 weeks post TnR this is what I have on my head. Pretty much all of the back hair came loose..dreadies turned to loose hair. The front, sides and the upper/top back stayed in. The dreads that are still in are pretty much loose roots and ends with a good knot in the middle section. How long will it take for the roots and ends to start knotting up?

dreads coming out..

Dread Maintenance

So I have some little dreads at the back bottom of my head that keep coming out. It is a fairly short section of my hair 3-4in. My question is should I put them back in or just let them be, and dread on there own?

twisting dreads through themselves..???

Dread Maintenance

Well thanks everyone for your input...after all this useful information I have decided to just leave them be. I will be patient and let them dread themselves....hopefully I can keep them growing for a few years to see what mature dreads actually look like on me(something that I have always wanted).

Backcombing/twist and rip or twist and rip only?

Dreading Methods

Well I used the TnR method for my hair and two and a half weeks in mine look very similiar to your 1 month photo. Basically from what I have learned TnR loosens up in the 1st month and then starts to tighten, where as backcombing doesn't start to tighten until about 3 months in. I don't know what your expierience was since you combined methods.

Hello!!

Introduce Yourself

Umm, well they were just really messy, I also used a little wax so they collected dirt easier.

Hello!!

Introduce Yourself

Hi I am Erin, just did the TnR about a week and a half ago, and I totally love them...my hair is only about 6in long so I can't do too much with them but they are still awesome. About 10 years ago I attampted dreadlocks and they just totally turned into a rats nest. I plan to keep them clean and nice this time.
