Greasy/sticky dreads o.O

Dread Maintenance

Been washing only twice a week now, used sea salt spray 2 hours before washing. Washed last night and they seemed fine after they dried, then I woke up and my dreads were sticky at the roots and greasy down the rest. I'm so confused, what is it?

Day 11

Dread Maintenance

Well I'm up to 24 dreads now, day 11. The roots in the back are getting really loose, so I guess we'll see how that goes. The top section is really fuzzy, along with alot of the roots. Been using aloe from the leaf to smooth down the fuzziness, but it keeps coming back almost worse. So I guess we'll see how it goes.

Day 5 or 6 ??

General Talk

Yeah, that's about where I'm at on my baby dreads. I'm now up to fourteen of them (yay!!) and I'm really happy with them already. Seems like the fatter ones are moving along a bit better and faster than the skinnier ones, but that may just be how it looks at the moment. No pics, yet, have to wait until I can use my boyfriends ipod since my phone sucks and I have no camera :(

Just a quick little update!!

Hello Dread friends!!

Introduce Yourself

I'm Charlene, Charly for short. Use whichever you like.

I'm only on day two or three of my nine little dreadies. I plan on putting alot more in, but right now I'm just seeing how the nine do first so I know whether I should try something else or not.

I used the twist and rip method, and so far it seems to be going really well. I do plan on crocheting the loose hairs and roots so they are all nice, but I don't plan on making them look completely done up to perfection.

Any advice?

i'm half native american, so i have really oily hair, and it's also VERY course. with it being so course, i thought for sure it would easily do it by itself, but i guess the oil makes a problem

lolit's okay. well i haven't combed my hair in 14 years and it still stayed the same way. i've been using tutorials made my a girl named harriot, she did hers with twist and rip because she had the same problem with her hair that i do, and it seems that even after she took her dreads out, her hair was fine. i won't crochet though
