''severe damage from crochet are both epidemic now''
I do understand your point of view and i agree with it but i can't let my loose hairs because most of the times are they just getting on my nerves.
So i do one maintenance once two months or so, it won't hurt them as much like happened with those people who were going bald, that was only because they were overdoing it maybe like once 2 weeks or so and when they did it, they did it ''real good'', i can bet on that.

'' its all a marketing gimmick to convince you to spend money  .. shaming healthy dreads so you can have a damaged alternative ''

Good thing that the only money i spend for my dreadlocks are baking soda and vinegar, besides dye ( it's my 2nd time in 2 years when i dye them )

Oh, i saw that topic.
Well i think that happens only if you overdo those things which i don't (going bald).
And yeah on that part with the tight roots, mine are as loose as can be.
I keep mine with a clean look, with a limit.
I don't usually overdo things my dreadlocks.

I used the crochet method only to make my dreadlocks and  from there i used the croched just for maintenance to get in the loose hairs.
And yes they're kinda stiff but only the older parts like 20-30% of the dreadlock length.
About frizz yeah isn't too much i usually trim only the long hairs that are poppin' out from my locks ( yea i know i can get them back in just from palm rolling but i'm lazy sometimes )
Anyways my dreadlocks from my perspective are alright.
I do maintenance only once two months only on roots (to get back  in the loose hairs ), i like a ''clean'' lookin' style.

Ey, i had my dreadlocks dyed red ombre for the past 2 years and now i wanted a change, i asked my friends if my color looks better than before and they said yes but i'm kinda unsure about my '' color '', maybe that's only because it's a change for me and i'm not used to.
