My own natural dreads progress

what i noticed is that the dreading kinda goes in fases. Nothing rly happens for some time (maybe some time of existing knots), and then suddenly after washing you have a few new dreads. I dont really think more washing would speed up this progress. The way i see it, ur hair has to kinda "build up" a baseline of knottyness, and only then will you get dreads. This obviously happens in different speeds in different areas. It's probably not how it goes for everyone, but this is how it went for me, so if it goes this way for you aswell, washing probably wont help.

well yeah, thats not very nice :D, but you said urself (i hope i remembered correctly) that u had only people like those online, and that's the illusion that the internet provides i think; thinking that there are a lot more people of a certain group then there rly are... whether u agree with them or not. take this site for example, it provides discussion about dreadlocks, but when u look at the real world there are very few people with dreadlocks compared with other hairstyles, yet we can still talk and feel like a community while its rly just typing to people from across the planet u'll probs never see....

although I do agree with you about the cultural approriation stuff, i doont think its very nice to call them racicts and stuff. they're probs just people who wanna look "cool" within their group of friends and dont rly understand what dreads are about (in my opinion). also, about ur kid, if she rly thinks she wants dreads and it would fit her personality etc. i would suggest freeform, becuz if she's 5 years in, and wants them truly natural she has to start all over again...

they look nice, but why no freeform? Although they look nice, i think the whole point of dreadlocks is the journey, and not the instant look (but again; they look nice!)

so i just discovered a new use for dreadlocks! (it only works for people in school!)

SCIENTISTS ARE BAFFLED

step 1: grow dreadlocks

step 2: look very scary (apperatnly)

so now you just walk around the walkways, and people will go out of the way automatically, so now you always have a free path!

(btw its a joke :D)

i dont know exactly, but definetly not daily. if i just seperate them daily from now on will they slowly get untangled? and i dont rly have a problem with big dreads, just that i see litteraly everyone with a lot of small dreads at the back.

I see a lot of people with like 20 little "dreads" at the back, but i just have like 5 big ones (to be fair im a long shot away from all my hair forming dreads), but i would probably have a lot more i rly looked for different strands inside thos big ones, but i feel like i would have to tear like half my hair to do so, so i guees my question is if im doing something wrong if i find it hard seperating and just have 5 or so big "dreads" at the back?

i do seperate down to the root

they asked a hairdresser and she said that ill have to like twist my hair everytime i went out of the shower, and the moment i heard that i was already suspicious, because its the classic "its not possible with ur kind of hair" line in disguise.

otherwise my hair would like knot at the root and then ill be unable to clean it and ill have to cut my hair because shit will start to "fester". (thats why i used the term doomsayer :D)

i think they formulated their question in such a way that she thought i would only not comb my hair and not seperate it, adn not wash it right and stuff, so now they are so convinced ill like die because i didnt let my hair done XD
