Have 2 Dreads, Doing the rest, Very Curly Hair, Have some questions.

Introduce Yourself

Hey Guys, I'm Jay. Nice to find this website, as I was falling into the Knottyboy/DreadHead fallacies.

Pics at the end of the post.

The two established dreads that I do have were first started completely naturally. I was doing work in a damp basement working in dust for about 3 months. Showering regularly didn't keep the dreads from forming. I embraced them as they started on both sides of my head, and were the hair that would normally cover my face. As they started I kept them from congoing the rest of my hair as they just wanted to grab onto everything they possibly could. I also Hand Rolled them, and when I was impatient and (more) inexperienced, I took stray hairs and threw them into the handrolling to help knot it up. I haven't done that in a long while, and just regularly hand roll my dreads and keep stray hairs out.

I've decided to go all the way, and having done a bot more research found that what those other websites were leading towards was the wrong direction. I'm all about going the natural direction.

My questions are:

1) Because I have such curly hair, I'm afraid that my hair will congo into one giant dread, and I do not want that, Is this a proper concern, or will they naturally section themselves off?

2) I work in a restaurant and as a result, have to pull my hair back. I understand this will not help in the process, but will it completely hinder the process, or will it be just a minor setback?

I'll leave it at that for now, because I'm sure more questions will follow. Thanks for the feedback! Glad to be a part of the community.
