Dread Maintenance

Okay, thank you for the warm welcome and the advice so far.

I posted some pictures of my hair and would like to have some feedback on what stage people think the hair is in now and how far off from the promised land I am, 7 months in from starting off with the two strand twist. I also think they look dull and dry...and wanted to some advice on how to liven them up.

I am still yet to settle on a maintenance regime and have ordered the shampoo and gel from dreadlockshampoo.com but as I don't live in the US , it may be a little while before I get them. I used Lets Dread wax for a while but have stopped that after doing some research...

My proposed routine for the future is:

Magic Lock gel to make them neater for work as required

Weekly shampoo washes

Spray with the Himalayan sea salt as required

Moisturise with teatree oil/water solution...as required

Monthly BS/ACV washes

No more palm rolling.. and no more wax....

Thanks..

I wash my hair everyday. Does it affect the dreading process?

Dread Maintenance

Not an expert (yet) but I think the main issue with frequent washing , mould, occurs when the dreads don't dry out completely. I have read on different forums that clean hair dreads better than dirty hair (i wash mine once a week) and I think you should be fine if your hair dries up completely between washes. I am sure others will weigh in with more wisdom..
