starting the natural method

ok guys another question. my hair is starting to lock up. but unfortantely my job requires me to tie my hair back for 8+ hours a day and the locks are starting to lock together. should i be pulling them apart to keep the locks seperate? and does it hurt if while im seperating them i twist the locks up to the roots? one of you guys said i should know what my soon to be dreads would want and i feel like thats what they are telling me to do. thanks again for the responces.

starting the natural method

Introduce Yourself

Thanks guys. And I have caucasian hair. I live right by the beach so I wash my hair in the sea water. I just believe this is a natural way to do it and have talked to many people who believe this is a good way. I am not using baking soda or acv. I haven't used real shampoo or conditioner in about six months. But I have been brushing my hair.I stopping brushing now though.

Ok. I'm starting the natural method for dreads..the problem I'm having is that the ends are locking up before the roots and I don't feel that's right.Am I wrong?

Ok cool. Sorry for the stupid questions. All the answers make perfect sense after someone else says them to me. Like I said I'm new to this and I've only had my hair besides a few times. I once left them in for about a month and they started locking up hardcore, but it was only the back of my head that lock up and the front just came undone. And I know braiding isn't a good way to dread your hair.

And what about brushing my hair. I brush it with a soft bristle brush now. Is that ok? Or should I not brush at all?

I was about to say that my hair is really oily but you responded barrellady. One question though. Is it ok to tie my hair back? Will that affect the dreading process or should I not tie it back.I do work with food so I kinda have to tie it back and where a hat. Will that slow down the dreads?

Ok ok ok. You guys have convinced me. All natural it is. my hair is.super oily when I don't condition it. I haven't used conditioner in about two months. My hair has started to lock up before but I was worried about it. idk why just was. It starts from the back and starts small.my hair tends to be straight but starts to.curl after it gets about four inches. So now the ends are getting curly. My hair is about 10+ inches currently.I appreciate your guys help. Please give me any other pointers you can. Thanks guys.
