White Build Up

Help! Save My Dreads

Yep, hard water, after a couple of washes with Dr Bronners I noticed that my hair had a lot of sticky residue in it, and I mean my normal hair, not the dreaded parts so I stopped using it pretty quick.

I did a BS/ACV wash two days ago and the above photo was taken last night so it's not moving any time soon :/

So here's what the buildup looks like, sorry about the quality. It feels kinda like wax, I guess. I'm hoping it's just residue from Dr. Bronners and whatever other stuff I used.

I'll give that a try, thank you!

Oh I should mention I reduced the BS and diluted it more because I found my hands would sting like crazy, not my scalp though. I tried to google that and came up with nothing so I hope it was because I used the wrong ratio.

just under half a cup of baking soda and a full basin of hot water (plus some essential oils and sea salt), 3 table spoons of ACV and another full basin of water.

I'm afraid they'll turn out like the Knotty Boy and DreadHead HQ stuff

Help! Save My Dreads

Well I started off with some of the shampoos from the websites, Knotty Boy and stuff, but my hair felt crap after so I stopped quite quick. Then I tried dr. organic, then a mixture of an olive oil soap bar and some essential oils, then Dr. Bronners but that left my hair feeling horrible and sticky (I guess I have hard water). In between all of those I was using the baking soda and ACV washes.

Help! Save My Dreads

I've had dreads for about a year and a half. I've switched products half a hundreds times because some left residues behind and others just dried my scalp out way too much.

Anyway, I've noticed I have this crazy build up of white stuff in my dreads, around the middle and at the roots, it's a bit sticky, kinda flaky, it doesn't smell and I don't know how to get rid of it. Of all the shampoos I've tried, I always return to baking soda with an ACV wash, but clearly that's not getting rid of the build up.
