go ahead and give it a good waxing. It DOES feel a little sticky at first, but after a few smokes your pipe feels nice and smooth.

Haha. I didn't put any near the mouth, so I don't know how it tastes. And no, it's really not obnoxiously sticky. You definitely couldn't use it as an adhesive.
My pipe feels a lot less brittle now though, and the bowl doesn't feel as hot while smoking. No linseed oil here at my apartment though, so dread wax is going to have to do for now.
