yeah cotton wool is better but cotton will work.... make sure all your hair is under it i have a 75 vw that i rebuilt the engine on and at the time i had long dreads the hat will absorb most of it and leave little mess in your hair...and u always wanna keep locks away from moving engine parts i really cant stress that enough... i found mixing a decent amount of baking soda with bronners got it out of hair a lil easier as well
