Okay so it's been a couple weeks... my progress has been 'roller-coastery' but I didn't forget about you guys. I lost a hard drive's worth of files (gigs and gigs) including my progress shots but I took a few over the past day or two and thought I should update this thread.
Issues so far... I've had some dry/itchy scalp problems but I know think they're directly related to the fact that I was using way too much baking soda... it's still there a little bit but not close to as bad as before. Anyone have any ideas? I've cut back on the baking soda and it seems to be helping a little bit...
I was also getting a little worried because it didn't seem time to start 'seperating' and my hair was starting to connect at random (think basketball net) but it seems that they do their own thing (stay seperate, cling, then seperate, etc).
I've had hair seem completely locked and then appear all wispy a day later but all in all I'm happy and getting excited that I can feel most of my roots starting to lock and group together although the rest of the length of my hair doesn't seem to be so tight. I'm getting a lot of knotting directly at the roots (some very tight) and at the ends (found out how painful accidentally ripping connected hair apart is).
I attached a montage of pics since I haven't updated in a while... let me know what you think and any advice or encouragement.
Peace.

Sorry for the crazy delay. Not sure if I have any good images of my neglect progress.
Unfortunately, because I am a business owner and have to deal with backwards people who have their presuppositions about these things on a daily basis, I decided to back comb.
I'm still going to just keep up with the neglect routine after they're completely combed (I'm about halfway done). We sectioned it last night, mainly using the natural sections I was already getting, and are about halfway up the back of my head.
I'm sort of sad that I just went with a "quickstarter" after making this grandiose thread about straight neglect but I decided that in a business situation, I'd rather have someone say "he has nasty hair but oh look, it's dreadlocks" instead of "he has nasty hair." I think my wife will be more prone to accept dreadlocks that look at least partially like mature locks.
haha... I know it doesn't matter much what people think, but the money involved matters to me. If they still have an issue with 'cleaner' locks, then it's their problem.
I'll post up some pics in the next few days.
