My hair is about 3-4" long when I started my dreads a week ago. Everyone I know (non dreadies) say that I have to grow it out first or else it won't work or will look terrible. Are they right?

how did u start most methods wont hold long at all below 4-5 inches hair dreads naturaly ayt 6
the cheatter ways to get it to look dreaded shorter are very bad indeed
although these are typical of caucasian hair afrixan hair dreads way shorter

I've never used wax. Also I started them by back combing.
i know but iu said your too poor to get wax like you thought wax would help you i jut want to make sure you didnt try it in the future
