-The Situation: I am a 17 year-old African American female who has had dreadlocks since I was about 5 years-old (about 12 years). My dreads started thinning at the roots and falling out around (the back of my head) 8th grade. I didn't worry or think much of it. I am in the 12th grade now. My hair is growing REALLY slowly. It has now gro wn into a very small afro over the course of 3-4 years. When I wash my hair (once a week) my scalp where my hair fell out itches terribly, ESPECIALLY when I get out of the shower. I can not help but scratch it. I retwist my hair about 6 times a year. I am currently taking biotin and multivitamins to see if that will help up my hair growth. I'm a vegetarian by the way. (:
-MY QUESTION: Should I cut it off my hair? Or just wait to see what happens? Any ideas, comments, tips, ANYTHING would help. I don't know what I did wrong! I am desperate for help at this point. I am thinking about getting dreadlockextensions or simply cutting them off.
***PRODUCTS I USE: I wash my hair with black soap orSuave Professionals Almond & Shea ButterShampoo. To condition my hair I leave in a mixture shea butter and olive oil.
~As you can see in the picture, the middle of my hair has fallen out. That is why the dreads are so short in the middle compared to the others. Luckily, those have grown back. But, the bald area does not seem to want to grow back.
****BY THE WAY: I have cut my hair over the years. And my sister just cut them recently, that is why they are uneven and are at that length.
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO COMMENT ON MY DISCUSSION! :D I REALLY DO APPRECIATE THEM!
