Need help quickly for root

I know this sounds really stupid but i have semi freeform afrikan textured dreads and like to shave the sides. Likewise i was shaving the sides and i went up too far and cut about half the root off of one of my favorite knots. it is hanging on and i dont want it to become weak or lose thickness. What, if anything can i do

stop saving the sides

the hair will need to grow in a d reconnect theres nothing else that will help but letting the hair regrow

thats the ultimate goal it will look a bit weird though. i might stop retwisting and let the upper sides grow in but for now they are not super long and im not confident enough for that lol.

well you will keep having this issue then. and  it won't look weird long
