:) Didn't mean to reiterate the point. Sorry if I stepped on your feet. Spider Feet said:
Thats pretty much the point I was trying to make.

I think it all depends on how sensitive you are. I tend to brush those things off. No biggie if somebody disagrees with my opinion. I don't have to talk to them or live with them!!! :)

Oh no, I didn't take it that way at all(enjoyed the pun though =p ). I was enjoying reading through everyone's interpretation of it and they are all right. We are all saying the exact same basic point through different situations and perspectives. I just really enjoy the direct simplicity of what you said. MiDread said:

Thanks! - and that's pretty much how I am - "simple" LOL! What you see (or read) is pretty much what you get. I am glad that all of your feet are ok though... :P Spider Feet said:

I'd say less than many other sites. But they crop up on occasion. I usually blow it off as someone having a bad day. Kris D. said:
I was unaware we were even having problems, save for one tiff I saw a few days ago.
huh. interesting.

Mind you, I don't mean leave leave (as in deleting my account) I just mean not visiting the site for a month or better. I hate seeing unnecessarily harsh reactions to things that people have a number of misconceptions about, and I feel that a number of our members go much too far in telling said new-comer that they are misinformed. As I've said before, they blow it up to make a much bigger deal out of it, when a 'thanks but no thanks' is really all that needed to be said. I would rather avoid the entire place than to have to deal with what can be rampant judgement and hate on all the most recent posts. It's not little things like palm rolling (I had a friend who did for the entire life of her dreads) or eating meat ( I eat it when I can, I just hate that some people can be so stubborn about the subject, and seem to approach the matter with a 'holier-than-thou' attitude. They ignore the fact that some people are more inclined to eat meat, while others aren't...I have a hypothesis that it has something to do with your families country of origin), it's just the often unchecked hatred towards those that really don't know any better, and what I feel is a lack of choice. You either do 'a' or we don't have much time for you kind of thing. It does have a good bit to do with how sensitive you are...and I tend to be a moderately sensitive person. Not that I take things too much to heart, but that I hate to see a number of dready 'free-thinkers' jump on a bandwagon of any sort, and it's often what I see here. I don't want to get sucked up into it, nor do I want to have to deal with any confrontation that comes with it, be it online or otherwise. MiDread said:
Do you have to leave the forum to avoid the negative vibes????? That seems really harsh!!! (Not by you, but for you!!!!) I feel bad about that!!! I see a lot of things on here that I don't necessarily agree with, but I don't take it to heart. To each thier own!!! :) So what if somebody palm rolls? So what if somebody eats or doesn't eat meat???? I try to avoid those conversations. I can tell by the title of the forum that I am gonna have an issue with the subject and just surf on by. That is the GREAT thing about an online forum!!! You can avoid whatever you want!!! I hate to see someone feel like they have to avoid the whole site or the majority of the people on here just because of a few different and o.k., maybe STRONG opinions. Can you maybe reconsider?????? I think the majority of people on here really are considerate to other people's lifestyles and opinions.

I have to agree... I'm so happy that someone finally said something regarding both maintenance and eating habits. Part of life's journey is making your own path, not followed one that's been laid down by another. That's the way I look at it. We all have choices, and while some may not be the best, you learn from it, and live with what you have after making said decisions. I heartily believe that it's the only way to learn; I don't think that another person can really grasp the severity of my mistakes and take away the same lessons that I did without living it for themselves (granted, this doesn't to all things, but I do believe that this applies to dreads and your lifestyle in general).

I was away (and tend to stay away) for the exact reasons that you mentioned. I don't need other people's negative vibes clogging my mind and body..and if that's what I find (be it here or anywhere else) then I'll leave and wait for them to dissipate before coming back. If I come back and things haven't changed much ( save for a few new faces ) then I leave again. I would rather avoid such negativity than to get sucked up into it.

Thank you, Spider Feet. It's always killed me when someone tells me about how accepting, loving, caring, forgiving, understanding they are & how everyone else should be the way and THEN the bomb drops: Someone disagrees with said accepting, loving, self-proclaimed saintly person. And the "saint" turns into the nastiest fu*k you'd ever meet. I've seen this interesting phenomenon with a LOT of people who called/call themselves "hippies": Ah, yeah, I am sooo loving...until you don't agree with everything I say.... *BAM!*

I see your point of view and I personally love your gentle nature. But to ask everyone else to feel the same way as you is very imposing. That would actually be stifling many individuals opinions. Like with the idea of dread maintainence, it's a message board that caters more towards natural dreads but people that do maintain are welcome. It also caters more towards a love all type of attitude but people like me, who have a different viewpoint are welcome. I don't expect anyone else to be that accepting of my opinions but I still feel accepted because I can refuse to debate about my opinions and I am not judged as a person because of those opinions.
