So I looked at your pics and your hair looks a lot like mine when I used to still comb my hair. I suspect they put some kind ultra hold gel or hair glue in your hair. Just start washing your hair with a shampoo that is residue free and your hair will start lockng on it's own in no time. No need to comb it out just make sure you keep your hair clean and you'll be well on your way. You can't make dreads in a day so just throw away your comb and enjoy the trip.

Get all the gunk etc. washed outta your hair, that should take care of the curling they did to ya, then just start keeping it clean and leave it alone, throw away your comb and brush so your not tenpted to use them then read... http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/natural-dreadlocks-or-ne...

Don't comb it! I would leave it for at least two weeks before I'd start washing. You can't just get dreadlocks. They will however form from what you have if you maintain them.Did you go to a salon that specialises in Afro hair. You already have curly hair? They treated your hair as they normally would. You will get dreads.I have curly hair and the first time I got dreads I went to an Afro salon and they twisted it with gel. My hair was about eight or nine inches long after a month my hair was forming into locs. But I did not treat them well and was obsessed with perfection dread wax and backcombing. The length was a hindrance and couldn't maintain the mess that would have been good dreads.Shame really because by now I would have some long ass locs.

omg man, that salon didn't even KNOW what locks were?well, if it makes you feel better, thats almost exactly what my natural hair looked like,DONT CUT,just let it be, and stop conditioning, and look into the methods on the right side of the homepage to find a method that fits you,to be honest, I would seriously try to get my money back tho, it's obvious they were very mistaken, they curled your hair,,,,,, that's it, locks never look like that at any point.i mean they may lock up easier naturally now,, but uh,,, damn.

hey thanks man, originally, i backcombed/waxedhowever in the first 3-5months mine looked like garbage tho, and had to get most the wax out,to be honest looking back at my pictures*been meaning to post a 1year journal when i get ahold of my other pics*I don't know how i got through the first 4-5months,I'd recommend T&R first if you can't do the natural route, but your kind of hair locks up amazingly, and responds well to all methods, just dry it out first though, and switch soaps.

that's what I had always figured at first, somehow though they do, and crazily,(if you think about it probly 90% *made up number* of the locking up takes places while you sleep, i think this movement has a profound affect on curlier hair with its coilyness, that's just a theory though,I remember a time when i was stressed/busy in high school and didn't brush my hair for about 4ish days and just stood under the showers to clean, and I had this tight as hell knot on the left side of my head, took forever to get out *i sleep almost exclusively on my left side cept when i force otherwise*looking back at that, that was a baby lock in the making, if I had let it be, and pulled it apart as they formed, probly would had almost 3year old locks by now.
