Hey my name is Dee and I'm new to this. I've notice that my roots are locking first and I don't know if that's a good or bad sign. I mean I guess it's good. I been on my journey since January 2012. Also i started with two-strand twist because of hair texture. So advice is needed.

really think u were just twisting too much they still look just twisted leaving them alone more they will lock up better the roots will be looser for awhile wich they need to be.
the roots seem "tight" but wouldnt say locked as the hairs all look spiraled around the roots not the chaotic every which way youd expect if locked
