first time dreader

Hello everyone. I've come across this forum while doing some research on dreads. I've been wanting locks for awhile now. A friend wanted to do wax, but after reading several horrific experiences I've decided against it. So now I'm looking other methods. I would love to go the natural route, but my hair is basically lifeless and will not lock itself. It's flat and straight..... besides that I'm sure my work would not allow it. So, what is the best method in locking my hair. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

it will dread naturaly but best method besides natural twist and rip (based on your descript) and may i say amazing profile pic very soft and beautiful the lightings amazing
