Separation anxiety

Not sure if this meets the criteria for a dreads disaster. But, I have come to the point where I need to start separating.I had let the back go to where I had a giant congo forming and when I seperated it it actually tore some hairs.

So, what I'm wondering is:

Seperate after washing to minimize damage?

How do you keep some uniformity in you dreads while attempting to separate? I don't mind bumps and squiggles, but want to have a reasonable amount of uniformity. I'm having a hard time with that.

Should I start beading to keep newly formed dreads from the one not yet started or does this make no difference.

Plus any other general seperation tips.

ahhh same problem! i hope someone answers soon, would wet hair be better or worse im wondering...

People usually recommend separating while wet, since it is easier.

I personally do it mostly when dry, wet hair confuses me. But that's just me. :D

what do u mean by uniformity? why should dreads be uniform

Well, not completely uniform, just relative. Much like yours.

mine arent uniform..at al the thinnest is like 10000 times thinner then the thickest

they range from 1 milimeter thats actualy 3 extremely tiny dreads ci[ombined yup to an inch some of the inch ones are as many as 6 dreads combined

used to be over 100 around pencil size with a couple inch size

as i=long as none are massive your ok
