i have had dreads for 1.4 years no wax, i did back comb method, should the fl 
op down or is this normal?

u also crochetted crochets worse then wax the damage is permanent and both wax and crochet make them stiff
it will take 6 months if u crochetted once longer if u crochetted alot to recover
recovery will also include extreme frizziness from all the broken hairs

Locks should flop over. But crocheting over tightens them. If you stop crocheting, they will eventually loosen themselves up and flop over. You could help it along by massaging jojoba oil into them to loosen the hair up a bit
